SOP' (cable plug identity)
The channel USB-C uses to read the cable's own e-marker.
SOP-prime, written SOP', is the messaging channel USB-C uses to talk to the cable's own e-marker chip — separate from the devices on either end, which communicate over SOP. Reading SOP' is how a Mac learns the cable's vendor, current rating, and data capability. Cablyst decodes the SOP' Discover Identity response into plain language.
See it on your own cable — install Cablyst, check a cable, or browse the full glossary.
